Matthew Morris: A Biography

My name is Matthew Morris, I am a Political Science and Communication Studies double major at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina with a particular emphasis on international affairs and political campaigning.

Welcome!

Born July 6, 1992 in Atlanta, Georgia, I moved to South Carolina for the first time in when I was eight years old. Since then I have always considered South Carolina my home state. I attended T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson, South Carolina for all four years of high school.

My father is a commercial lender and a small bank in the upstate and my mother is a chaplain in the Greenville hospital system. The mix of faith and practicality which I grew up with, coupled with my Liberal Arts education at Furman University, has given me a unique perspective on the world.

I am a firm believer that where you have been serves as a guiding light for where you will go in the future. As such, three of my personal heroes are Andy Griffith, Fred Rogers, and James Taylor. These men all used the media to convey simple messages to make a positive impact on the world.

My Political Science major at the university have focused on international affairs and South Carolina state politics. My Communications Studies major has given me practical skills related to digital media and a more comprehensive understanding of mass media.

I am interested in pursuing a career with either the United States State Department or working in campaign politics. I am a devout Christain and a firm advocate of the ideals of freedom, charity, and love.
